Our Catalogue of Interactive Sheet Music
Metronaut has a rich and diverse catalogue of over 10,000 music sheets which is constantly growing, with original arrangements as well as simplified ones elaborated by professors and professional musicians in order to accommodate students of all levels. From the greatest works of the classical repertoire, to exercices and etudes from the pedagogical repertoire, all the way to pop, rock, jazz, film music and more, our catalogue has something for every musician's taste and will allow them to explore new genres and diverse styles of music.
Furthermore, you can adapt the music to your student's needs. In the app, you'll select their level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert) as well as their instrument among the 19 instruments available in the app (piano, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, and many more). Then, the sheet music will automatically adapt to the suitable level and the appropriate part and range for their instrument.
Intelligent Adaptable Musical Accompaniments
Our musical accompaniments are perfect to prepare students for an audition, to allow them to practice in advance with an accompanist, or just to enjoy playing with an orchestra rather than alone. Our technology synchronises the accompaniment to the musician's playing in real time, to create an immersive experience reproducing the conditions of a real accompanist adapting to the soloist and their tempo. Help your students build confidence ahead of their audition by recreating the proper conditions, or personalize your performance and let your musical style shine without worrying about a fixed accompaniment tempo! Pianists can efficiently learn hand-by-hand by playing one hand as Metronaut accompanies them with the other part.
How to Use the Metronaut App for Teaching
For the Teacher: Preparing the Lesson
As an all-in-one tool, the Metronaut App simplifies the process of preparing for your lessons by allowing you to organize everything you need efficiently in one place.
Start by selecting pieces for each of your students by using our advanced research tool in the catalogue. Search for a specific piece or sort through them by instrument, difficulty level, accompaniment type, and period/genre to find the right piece adapted to your student! You can also browse through our curated collections by composer/artist, mood, and other categories for inspiration.
Once you've found the right piece, select the arrangement that corresponds to your student's level: original, simplified, or very simplified. Whether the student is a beginner, intermediate or advanced musician, they can choose to learn the music they like thanks to our arrangements by professional musicians and teachers, adapted to different levels of difficulty. As they improve and progress, they can work through the different easier arrangements to reach the original version.
Keep all your pieces organized by creating playlists for each student, and reorganizing the order of the pieces however you wish, such as by priority, artist, or genre.
Lastly, you can print the sheet music to distribute to your students, or if you just prefer to use paper sheet music. If you're worried about not having access to a wifi connection where you teach, you can download pieces from the app to access them offline, with all the same features you'd have online available to use!
During the lesson
You only have to bring your device with you to your lessons and you'll find everything you need in the app. Open your playlists based on the student and get the lesson started with the Metronaut interactive tools! Here are a few handy features in the Metronaut App which you can use to guide your student while teaching:
Tuner: Start your lesson by having your student tune their instrument right in the app.
Transpose: Easily transpose anything on the app by any interval and octave to fit the piece to your student's instrument's range.
Annotate: You can annotate the digital sheet music directly in the app, with a stylus or with your finger, to note down dynamics, fingerings, and more. All your annotations are automatically saved.
Loop: Select a passage of measures and Metronaut will loop through it over and over so that you can practice just that part without having to stop each time to go back. If your student is having a hard time learning a particular section, slow down the tempo and loop through those measure while slowly increasing the tempo!
Metronome: Use our built in metronome to help your student stay on tempo as they play.
Tempo Modes: Customize the tempo and the way in which the sheet music scrolls, as well as how the accompaniment adapts to your student's playing.
Fixed: The tempo is constant at the value you set it to.
Wait: Metronaut will listen to the notes you play and the cursor will move when you play the correct note. No need to set a tempo, Metronaut scrolls as you play, and the priority is hitting the right notes. Perfect for sight reading a piece!
Smart: The accompaniment will adapt to your tempo in real-time, just like a real accompanist would. Metronaut listens and automatically adapts the tempo to match you.
For the Student: Practicing at Home
Once the lesson is over, your student can play with Metronaut to stay motivated until the next lesson and progress while having fun.
From home, they can keep practicing with the accompaniment to feel like they're playing with their own orchestra and to properly prepare for auditions. As they improve, they can increase the tempo by increments to eventually reach the desired tempo.
Take advantage of our recording feature to keep the lesson going outside of class. As the teacher, you can record yourself playing the piece in video or audio, and send the recording to your student so that they can refer back to it while practicing. Recording is easy to do in the app, all while still viewing the sheet music and using the other features.
Your student can then also record themselves and review the recordings by comparing them to yours to identify what they need to improve on and should target in their practice session. They can choose to automatically record all their performances longer than 10 seconds to make the process even smoother, and keep track of their progress as they learn. If you're teaching online, you can use this feature to send videos back and forth in your communications between you and your student. Metronaut automatically synchronizes the audio and video from your recording with the cursor on the sheet music, so you can easily choose which measures and sections to listen to and efficiently jump between them.
And even when they're practicing alone, they can still get guidance on their playing by turning on Feedback Mode. Metronaut lets them know in real-time if they're playing the correct rhythm or not, and if any of the notes are incorrect. They can easily identify any issues in their playing and work on them with other features, such as the Loop or by slowing down the tempo.
Sometimes the greatest challenge to students outside of lessons is finding the motivation to practice on their own. The Metronaut App provides incentives to encourage them to practice, and to find it fun! In the app, students can scroll through the Community Posts to view recordings by other Metronaut users and musicians. They can follow along on the sheet music just as they would on their own recordings, and get inspired while discovering new pieces! And once they're proud of their own recording and wish to share it with the community, they can choose to post it for their fellow students and musicians to view as well.
In addition Metronaut keeps track of their practice time for the past week and awards them points based on how much they play. The more points they cumulate, the more positions they gain in the ranking against other Metronaut users to motivate them to reach the top!
